Coaching maybe something new to you. In fact, many people who seek coaching have never worked with a coach before. And, you may find I'm a bit different in my philosophy and approach compared to other coaches.
You will find that our coaching sessions are warm and friendly, where I caringly challenge your beliefs and thought processes. I invite you to a co-collaboration as we work together. I never judge you, nor do I assume you're incapable of the change you desire. In fact, I believe you are more powerful and courageous than you imagine and I will work tirelessly to show you so.
Consider this: You are on a road trip. You have a destination you'd like to reach. You have a map, a tank of gas, and snacks for the road. But, reaching a destination alone can be scary, frustrating, and boring!
I'm your co-pilot. You've asked me to come along on the journey. I help you read your map, talk with you about which turns would be the best to take, help you work through frustrations of hitting slowdowns and blown tires, and I'm there to encourage you. Best of all, I'm also there to celebrate when your journey reaches each destination along the way!
My approach is rooted in action, self-awareness, and deep empathy. I believe that by understanding what is keeping a problem going we must learn the information and strategies you need and take action to get you unstuck. My coaching approach isn't just talking in fact, I believe DOING helps you to create the change you are searching for. This process allows for deepened awareness and the assurance of an empathetic partner in your success.
TOOLS & TECHNIQUES
I use various tools and methods to assist you, for example, you may be familiar with cognitive-behavioral (that's a fancy way of saying thoughts & action techniques) and compassion-focused (learning self-love!) techniques, or attachment theory. I will be asking you to practice journaling and worksheets outside of sessions, maybe some mindfulness exercises too. I will ask you to be aware of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and record these. We may work toward facing your fears or practice new skills. These tools are all used to bring recognition to thinking and emotions and allow us to restructure these for your success. Additionally, I will ask you questions to spur you to consider how your thoughts and emotions are creating actions and reactions in your life. There may be times you don't have an answer to one of my questions, right away at least. You will find that I allow you to process an answer, fully giving you control on how to move forward.
I will help to find where your thinking has created negative emotions and reactions and work to change those ACTIVELY. I will help you acknowledge the beliefs, habits, and values navigating your life and how you can fine-tune or discard them for your best success. You will learn to overcome your inner-critic and compassionately reframe your thoughts.
I will caringly ask you tough questions and hold you accountable for your goals. Goals are key in our work together. We will identify areas of growth you would like to see, which area will affect the greatest change, and build and determine your goals. Goal creation is a living process, meaning, we will work together to reassess your goals, recreate goals, and revitalize your goals toward your desired success.
LIVE PRESENT, INVESTIGATE PAST
I may have questions about your family unit and some questions regarding your past because there are ALWAYS clues to how we think and act. Many times, I believe those clues in conjunction with the HERE and NOW, will help us to uncover how your current situations and struggles are affecting you and will give you more power to overcome your fears, anxieties, and stuckness.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Women 25 years and older.
Married couples, 25 years and older.
Someone who feels stuck.
Someone who wants to feel and learn something new.
Someone who wants to change the way they think.
Someone who wants to change the way they react.
Someone who is willing to put in the active work including collaborative conversations, outside of session work like journaling and various worksheets.
Someone who holds themself accountable to work inside and outside of sessions.
WHO ISN'T THIS FOR?
Someone who is currently seeking treatment for the same problem/issue with a mental health professional and with a formal mental health diagnosis.
(Why is this? I am training as a counselor, however, I am not licensed and want to ensure you receive the best care possible. If you want to work with me AND your mental health professional, I ask that you inform them of our time together through a form to ensure as professionals we are both aware of our work with you.)
Someone who doesn't want to talk, share, journal, actively engage.
This is a "hands-on" active process and requires you to put work in.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Each coaching session includes:
Non-judgemental, caring, and empathy-driven sessions,
6o minutes in length
Video or phone sessions, whichever you are most comfortable with (if you are local we may be able to schedule in-person sessions at a private location)
Post-session notes for additional reflection in between sessions
Personal growth "homework" to be completed outside of sessions
LENGTH OF TIME
Generally, clients are able to actualize their goals within 12-14 sessions. This is, however, not to say that we do not continue working together. Many clients continue in our relationship after their initial goal is met as they find more goals and behaviors they are hopeful of change.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Sessions 1-4: includes intake, assessments, and goal creations. This is where we will discuss some of your problems and create the steps and checkpoints toward your goals.
Sessions 5 through 14: These are our "working" sessions including finding relationships to situations and emotions/thinking, worksheets, journaling, and restructuring some of your thought processes.
Session 14 and beyond: This is determined by you. We will discuss how you feel about your progress, how I feel you're progressing, and if you're needing or wanting more coaching to move toward other behavioral changes.
*Unfortunately, life coaching is not covered by insurance. However, I will work with you on fees to ensure you find the support you need. Please be sure to contact me for more information.
